This week in Anderson, South Carolina, twelve stray dogs were brought to safety in one incredible day.
Anakin’s Trails was contacted by several concerned community members about a very pregnant pit mix wandering along Highway 29. Everyone feared she would give birth outside in the cold, with no shelter and no help. Time was critical.
Volunteers headed out with a trap, hoping to locate her before the puppies arrived. When they learned she had already given birth, the urgency only grew. Somewhere nearby, there were newborn puppies that needed warmth and protection.
While setting up food, water, blankets, and a camera in an area where the dogs were known to roam, the team encountered a white pit bull later named Marshall. He was badly injured, covered in sores and wounds from being attacked by other dogs. Despite his pain and fear, he quietly watched, clearly hungry and in need of help.
With rescue partners agreeing to step in once the dogs were secured, volunteers returned early the next morning to begin setting up a safe containment area.
Marshall appeared first. After a tense moment when he wandered toward the roadway, he safely crossed and walked into a baited trap. Within minutes, Marshall was secured and safe.
Next came Harley, the puppies’ mother. She cautiously approached the trap and was successfully secured as well. Once she was safe, volunteers rushed to search the nearby building for her puppies.
Ten healthy puppies were found and carefully gathered. One puppy had sadly passed, but ten tiny lives were alive and breathing.
Marshall was transported to a foster home to begin healing. Harley and her puppies were taken to a warm, safe place where they can rest, recover, and be cared for.
Anakin’s Trails is not a rescue organization. We are a stray and pet recovery organization. We work to locate, trap, and recover lost pets and strays. Pets reunited with their families and strays fron their new forever home!
Because of teamwork, compassion, and fast action, twelve dogs are no longer facing the cold and danger of the streets.
It truly was a beautiful day. ❤️ 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 ❤️
