We Got Coco and Her 7 Puppies - Rescued 2/14/26

This Valentine’s Day, love looked like muddy paws, wagging tails, and a family finally safe.

A concerned resident in Pelzer, South Carolina reached out about a mama dog and her second litter of puppies living behind her home. The mama, now known as Coco, had been roaming the neighborhood for nearly two years after the man she once lived with passed away. She survived by going house to house, searching for food and kindness.

Through collaboration with PAWS of Anderson and their new leadership, Anakin’s Trails received confirmation that Coco and her puppies would be accepted. With placement secured, it was time to move quickly.

Trapping a mama dog and an entire litter is never easy.

Our team — Sharon, Beth, and Ashley — set a carefully baited trap and managed to safely secure five puppies on the first attempt. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start. Leaving a single puppy behind wasn’t an option, so the team regrouped and returned the next morning with an improved plan and irresistible bait.

After patient waiting and precise timing, Coco and the remaining puppies finally entered the trap together.

The moment the door closed, this little family’s life changed forever.

Coco and her seven puppies were transported to PAWS of Anderson, where Coco will enter foster care and the puppies are already receiving interest from potential adopters.

No more living under sheds.No more roaming for survival.No more uncertainty.
