We Got Leo - Rescued 8/30/25

Some rescues happen after weeks of planning. Some happen in the blink of an eye.

Leo’s story falls into the second category.

A tiny puppy had been spotted alone near a very busy interstate — separated from his litter and trying to survive on his own for several days. With a four-day holiday week approaching and no one available to monitor or feed him, the situation quickly became urgent.

A last-minute decision turned into a lifesaving one.

With help from Gracie Acres Rescue, Beth and I headed to Gaffney without hesitation. A trap was placed, and within 30 minutes, Leo walked inside.

Just like that, he was safe.

After reaching out to more than a dozen rescues — all currently full — we were finally able to secure a foster home for Leo today. It’s a reminder of how overwhelmed rescues everywhere are, and how every single foster, donor, and volunteer makes a difference.

Leo is no longer alone.

He is warm.

He is protected.

He is loved.
