We Got Jingles - Rescued 12/16/25

Last Sunday evening, temperatures dropped quickly into the low double digits. For people, it meant bundling up and staying inside. For stray dogs and cats, it meant facing bitter cold, wind, and real danger.

Anakin’s Trails jumped into action to try to secure as many animals as possible before nightfall. One of those animals was a dog later named Jingles, seen wandering in Iva, South Carolina.

That night, our team was already in the middle of another rescue when volunteer Meagan and one of our members began watching Jingles on a camera feed. Hour after hour, she came back to eat from food that had been placed earlier in the day and even tried to lick a frozen bowl of water. It was heartbreaking to watch, knowing how cold it was and that we did not yet have permission to access the property where she stayed.

Placing a trap on the roadside would have been too dangerous, so we had no choice but to wait and hope morning would bring another chance.

Thankfully, Monday morning did just that.

With daylight came permission to access the property, and a trap was set. It quickly became clear that Jingles was likely pregnant. Her belly was round, and she was clearly very hungry. Everyone hoped she would go into the trap quickly so she could be brought somewhere warm and safe.

After some patience and careful monitoring, Jingles finally walked into the trap.

Volunteer Meagan arrived within minutes, along with her daughter, and transported Jingles straight to Second Chance Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Iva, SC.

From freezing temperatures and uncertain survival, Jingles went to warmth, safety, and a place where she and her future puppies will be cared for.

Stories like Jingles’ remind us why we do what we do.

Anakin’s Trails is not a rescue organization. We are a stray and pet recovery organization that helps to locate, trap, and recover lost pets to be reunited with their families and stray animals can find a new forever home.

Jingles’ journey is one more life moved from danger to hope—and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make that happen. ❤️ 🐾
