Tofu Is Safe - Reunited 1/11/26

Tofu is home—and his safe return happened because of one simple but powerful tool:

FLYERS.

Many people believe the best way to find a lost dog is through social media posts, neighborhood apps, or going door to door. While those can help, the most effective way to get real sightings is still printed flyers placed in the right locations.

Flyers on stop sign poles (without covering the sign), intersection poles, neighborhood entrances, and major roadways reach people who are already out driving and walking in the area. All it takes is one person seeing that flyer to change everything.

That’s exactly what happened for Tofu.

Haydin and Bailey had just adopted Tofu from the shelter. The very same day they brought him home, he slipped away. Frightened and unfamiliar with his new surroundings, Tofu ran when they tried to chase him, which only pushed him farther away.

Desperate for help, the couple contacted Anakin’s Trails. They were guided to fill out an intake form and were immediately given instructions on what to do next. A flyer was created for them right away.

Team member Beth followed up with the intake call and explained lost dog behavior, recovery phases, and—most importantly—how critical it was to get flyers posted as soon as possible.

Haydin and Bailey didn’t waste any time. Within hours, they had placed about 30 flyers throughout the Five Forks area.

That same evening, a woman found a small dog hiding behind a trash can, shaking with fear. She took him home to keep him safe. Later, as she was driving out of her neighborhood, she noticed one of the flyers.

It was Tofu.

She called the number on the flyer, and Tofu was reunited with his family that night.

Tofu is now home, safe, and wearing a martingale collar to help prevent future escapes.
