Stray dumping has long been a challenge in Laurens County, but thanks to teamwork and persistence, one small corner of that problem just got better.

Tori and her puppies were living under a house after being dumped as very young pups. Two of the original puppies had grown up and given birth close together, leaving Tori caring for four babies in unsafe conditions. Once the situation was identified, Anakin’s Trails stepped in to help coordinate care and a plan.

With help from community members Patsy and Amanda, food and straw were provided to keep the family warm and fed while we worked on next steps. Over time, Tori and her pups settled into a routine, which made safe recovery possible.

After securing placement with Hearts of the North (with support from Carmen’s Rescue), a team came together to humanely trap Tori first. It took patience—and a little creativity—but once mom was safe, the focus turned to the puppies. One by one, each pup was carefully coaxed out and recovered. Just before nightfall, the final puppy was secured.

All five are now off the streets. Tori and her pups are safe, in foster care, and on their way to a better future.

Anakin’s Trails is not a rescue. We help locate, track, and safely recover lost and stray animals, working alongside shelters, fosters, and community partners to give them a chance at safety and stability. In Laurens County, that progress is well underway. 💙🐾
