✔️✔️ WE GOT MIA! ✔️✔️
A Lost Schnauzer’s Journey Home
At least… that’s not the name we originally gave her! 😋
When a miniature schnauzer was spotted roaming the backcountry roads of Travelers Rest, SC, her future was uncertain. Skittish, elusive, and alone, she avoided every attempt to approach her.
One resident noticed her desperately drinking water from the pool cover but, like clockwork, as soon as anyone got close—she bolted.
That’s when Anakin’s Trails got the call.
Setting the Trap
A schnauzer rescuer reached out to us for help, deeply concerned for the dog’s safety. She was small, vulnerable, and in an area full of predators.
We had to act fast.
Yesterday, I met with a team of volunteers to scout the perfect location for a trap. But there was a problem—Mia hadn’t been seen in two days.
With little to go on, we did what we do best—set a well-baited trap and hoped she was still in the area.
🪤 We trailed food deep into the woodline.🪵 We knew she could be hiding anywhere.🌅
As the sun began to set, our volunteers set the trap to "dead" and left.
Unfortunately, they didn’t have any extra food on hand to bait outside the trap. It wasn’t ideal, but it was the best we could do at that moment.
Then, at 9:00 PM, something amazing happened…
Mia appeared out of nowhere—strolling up the path straight for the trap!
A Long Night of Hunger and Determination
With only a small trail of bait to guide her, Mia spent the entire night circling the trap, sniffing, desperate to get inside for food.
She was hungry, alone, and so close to safety.
We watched, waited, and hoped she wouldn’t disappear again before morning.
At 9:30 AM, after a long, cold night, her hunger finally won.
👣 She stepped inside.🪤 The door closed.💥 MIA WAS SAFE!
An Unexpected Surprise!
As we celebrated another lost pup off the streets, another surprise was waiting just around the corner…
📍 MIA WAS CHIPPED! 📍
Her family had been searching for her for two weeks. But with her owner recovering from a serious medical procedure, they hadn’t been able to search as much as they wanted.
They never gave up hope.
And in an emotional moment, they rushed to the vet to reunite with their sweet girl.
No More Roaming the Countryside
🚫 No more searching for food in the wild.
🚫 No more lonely nights in the woods.
🚫 No more uncertainty.
🐾 Mia, you’re going HOME. 🐾
A huge THANK YOU to the volunteers and the schnauzer rescue community for stepping up for this little girl.
Another life saved, another family made whole again. ❤️
