A former Anakin’s Trails team member contacted us after seeing a white dog repeatedly appear on cameras at a vacant property. The dog had been coming and going for several days. If no owner could be found, she was willing to foster the dog once she was safely caught.

Soon after, there were reports of the dog traveling along Duncan Chapel Road—a very busy roadway. With heavy traffic in the area, it was critical to get the dog to settle somewhere safer.

On Saturday evening, Anakin’s Trails team members met with neighbors who had spotted the dog and set up highly baited food stations in two areas she had been frequenting. The first night showed no activity, and there were no sightings.

The next morning, one of the cameras finally captured her at a food station. She was hungry, tired, and coming back often. It was time to move forward with a plan to safely trap her.

While preparing for that, a voicemail came in from a man pleading for help to find his dog. He explained that his white dog had jumped out of his truck while he was giving a job estimate. Photos were requested—and it was a perfect match.

This pup had a family!

Team member Beth stopped by to refresh the food station and place a box trap, just in case Luna returned. As luck would have it, a neighbor noticed Luna nearby. She followed the scent trail to the trap and walked right inside.

Luna was safely secured.

Her owner, who was only minutes away, rushed over to be reunited with his girl.

No more wandering near traffic. No more sleeping outside!

At Anakin’s Trails, we are not a rescue. We are a stray and pet recovery organization that helps animals be located, trapped, or recovered so pets can be reunited with their families and strays can find a new forever home.

Luna is going back to work with her dad—right where she belongs. 🐾❤️
