At Anakin’s Trails, we’re used to trapping lost dogs, skittish strays, and even the occasional cat. But every now and then, a rescue comes along that truly takes us by surprise. This one? Well… let’s just say it’s a little outside of our usual expertise.
Meet Jingles—a mysterious little critter (mouse? rat? No one is quite sure) who outsmarted an entire office full of humans, stole snacks for days, and ultimately found himself at the center of an unexpected rescue mission.
The Case of the Disappearing Snacks
It all started when Debbie and her colleagues at work noticed something odd. Each morning, wrappers littered the office floor. Whole granola bars and nutrition bars had vanished overnight. The real kicker? The office was locked after hours.
This could only mean one thing: they had a very sneaky intruder.
Catching Jingles in the Act
Determined to get to the bottom of the snack mystery, the team set up a camera—and sure enough, Jingles was caught in the act!
Every night, as soon as the lights went out, this tiny criminal would squeeze his way under the office door, scurry into the snack room, and indulge in an all-you-can-eat buffet. 🐭 Chewy bars, crackers, breakfast bars—you name it, he helped himself!
Now, most people might have called pest control at this point. But not Debbie. Debbie, our resident cat whisperer and animal lover, had other plans.
A Trap… for a Mouse?!
Instead of calling an exterminator, Debbie did what she does best—she showed kindness. Instead of letting Jingles go hungry while she figured out a plan, she set out food and water for him every night until she could safely catch him.
Yes, you read that right—Debbie set up a food station for a mouse.
And while most of us might have reached for the phone to call Terminix, Debbie reached for Amazon. She ordered a no-kill mouse trap, determined to relocate Jingles rather than harm him.
The Great Cheese Heist—Game Over!
When the humane trap finally arrived, it was go time. And what worked better than all of Jingles’ favorite snacks? Good old-fashioned cheese.
Within one night, Jingles took the bait—and his days of late-night snack runs were over.
A New Home for Jingles
Now, don’t worry—Jingles wasn’t relocated to somewhere near the next office break room.
Thanks to Debbie and her huge heart, Jingles was safely released into a more natural environment where he could live his best mouse (or rat?) life—without the temptation of protein bars.
A Friendly Reminder…
While we’re always happy to help dogs and cats in need, we have to make one thing very clear:
🚨 We do NOT trap wildlife. Please don’t send us requests for mice, squirrels, raccoons, or other critters! 🚨
This was a one-time, very unusual rescue—and we’re leaving the wildlife work to the experts. 😆

Debbie, you officially win the award for the most unexpected rescue of the year. ❤️
