✔️✔️ WE GOT CODY! ✔️✔️

In the rural town of Townville, a place forever etched in memory for the tragic events of 2016 when young Jacob Hall lost his life, hope and resilience have never wavered. This tight-knit community that once came together to shield its children has shown that same unwavering spirit to save a life again—this time, for a dog named Cody.

Cody, a stunning German Shepherd, had been living on the side of a farm road for weeks. Dumped and left to fend for himself, he sought shelter in a small, muddy culvert, enduring freezing nights in hopes of morning meals. But Cody wasn’t alone—this town, known for its heroes, rallied around him. Plates of food were left along the roadside, blankets and crates offered warmth, and people stopped daily to check on him.

Sharon and I arrived to find this incredible display of compassion—a roadside covered in offerings for a dog who had captured everyone’s hearts. Residents stopped their cars to ask, “Have you caught him yet?” It was clear: Cody belonged to this community, and we weren’t leaving without ensuring his safety.

As the afternoon wore on, we knew time was running short before nightfall. We decided to use a box trap instead of our usual stake-down trap, as Cody was dangerously close to a busy highway. After carefully baiting the trap with liquid smoke and setting up our camera, we parked on a side road aptly named "Cody Road" to wait.

It wasn’t long before we spotted him. His ears perked up, and he cautiously sniffed the air before circling the trap. With a mix of hope and nerves, we watched as Cody stepped inside. Just three minutes later, the door shut, and Cody was finally safe!

We ran over the hill to find this beautiful, gentle Shepherd curled up inside the trap. Overwhelmed with relief, we hugged, cheered, and admired the dog who had endured so much. The photos of us lying on the ground with him capture a moment of pure joy—proof of the beauty and strength of this incredible animal.

That night, Cody found warmth and safety in a local hero’s mudroom, far from the threats of harm he once faced. The town’s compassion triumphed over the cruelty of a few, and Cody rewarded everyone with kisses, tail wags, and his playful, loving spirit.

No more freezing nights or dodging traffic, Cody. No more threats from a few town idiots. You’re loved and safe now, surrounded by the true heroes of Townville.

(*To the family in the white truck with the little boy who stopped by while we were securing Cody: We’re so sorry we had to wave you on! We were focused on keeping Cody calm and safe in the moment. Thank you for caring, and we hope you see this to know how much it meant to us!)

Cody’s journey is a testament to the power of community, compassion, and hope. Thank you, Townville, for showing the world what it means to come together for a life worth saving. 🐾❤️
