✔️✔️ WE GOT BRUNO! ✔️✔️

What a Friday it’s been—full of twists, turns, and a heartwarming rescue! 🥱😴

Just as we wrapped up one trapping case in Woodruff, reports started pouring in about another lost pup: Bruno, a little Chi-Weenie, had gone missing in a neighborhood near mine. Naturally, I jumped in to help hang flyers and join the search. Bruno had slipped out when the wind blew the backyard gate open. While his canine siblings returned home, Bruno didn’t—and the search began. 😔

Bruno’s story is one of trust hard-earned. Adopted from a breeder at over a year old, he was always a bit skittish. It took months for him to warm up to his new family, and though he adored his mama, her absence one afternoon gave him the courage to wander off. Little did he know that his first adventure alone would lead to a long, cold night for this short-haired pup.

By morning, his mama was on the move, riding her golf cart through the neighborhood, speaking to anyone who might have seen him. Together, we canvassed the area, handing out flyers and urging people to keep an eye out for Bruno. The first sighting came in—a busy intersection close to their home. Then another, near a creek in a neighboring subdivision! She even spotted him there, but when Bruno saw her, he hesitated, then bolted. I told her to grab his canine sibling for backup, but by the time she returned, Bruno had disappeared again.

Determined not to let another cold night pass, team member Beth and I set up a baited box trap near the neighborhood clubhouse where Bruno had last been seen. It was the perfect spot: quiet, with little activity now that pool season was over, and right along the woodline he’d been running into. We laid out his mom’s old clothes for scent and hoped for the best.

And then, we waited.

Patience paid off. Around 9:30 PM, when the neighborhood finally grew silent, a tiny brindle pup emerged from the shadows. Sniffing the air and catching the familiar scent of his mama, Bruno cautiously approached the trap. A couple more sniffs later, and he was in! Moments later, he was on his way back home to the warmth and comfort of his bed—and the mama who had missed him so dearly.

No more cold nights by the pool house, Bruno. Your place in bed is waiting, and your mama couldn’t be happier to have you home! 🐾❤️
