Bonnie & Clyde - The Miracle Duo

Meet Bonnie and Clyde, the dynamic duo whose incredible journey has captured the hearts of Greenville County. From being dumped on the side of the road, skin and bones, to thriving, playful pups—this story is nothing short of a miracle.

It all began when Teresa, an Anakin’s Trails team member, found these two emaciated siblings in Mauldin after they’d been abandoned. They were so weak that Bonnie could barely stand, and both were clinging to life. Teresa couldn’t leave them behind, so she took them in and immediately began nursing them back to health. With the support of our amazing community, donations started pouring in, allowing us to cover three vet visits, a $550 bill, and two weeks' worth of food.

In the early days, every small victory felt monumental. Bonnie and Clyde were on a strict feeding schedule, eating small amounts every few hours, taking probiotics, vitamins, and de-wormer to help their fragile bodies recover. Their first vet visits revealed just how malnourished they were, but thankfully, they tested negative for parvo. Slowly but surely, they started gaining weight, growing stronger each day.

Bonnie’s Battle: There were moments of worry—Bonnie, the smaller of the two, had a tough time bouncing back. After a day of refusing food and water, she went to the vet, where she received fluids, a B12 shot, and some much-needed care. That was the turning point! She started eating and drinking again, her energy returning, and she finally began to thrive.

Clyde’s Comeback: Clyde, the bigger of the pair, showed steady improvement from the start. His appetite returned quickly, and before long, he was eating heartily and even enjoying some playtime in the yard.

Day by day, their progress became a joy to witness. Bonnie and Clyde began eating consistently, gaining weight (10 pounds in two weeks!), and showing the playful personalities they’d hidden behind their survival mode. By their third vet visit, they were officially out of the red! Bonnie was wagging her tail, Clyde was thriving, and both were finally on the path to their happily-ever-after.

Last weekend, we witnessed something extraordinary: Bonnie and Clyde playing with toys, sunbathing, and enjoying the safety and comfort of Teresa’s home. Watching them come alive after so much suffering was heartwarming for everyone involved.
